Upcoming Maruti Baleno-based Toyota Glanza fully revealed in pictures

Doppelgänger. That’s the term which comes to our my mind whenever talking about the Toyota Glanza. The upcoming premium hatchback is nothing but a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which is currently the best selling car in the segment. The Toyota Glanza will be launched on the 6th of June, 2019, which makes it just a couple of weeks away. While we have already told you that the Toyota Glanza is a carbon copy (almost!) of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, here are some images, posted by Abhi Lash on Facebook, which show the car in full detail.

While we have seen several rebranded cars in the country over the years (Nissan-Renault partnership yielded plenty of them), Toyota seems to have taken the word rebranded literally. The only change one sees on the Glanza is the new grille and changed brand logos along with the Glanza name at the rear. Even the alloy wheel design is the same as on the Baleno.

Toyota claims that the Glanza will deliver a more premium experience than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. What we can assure is that the Glanza will be priced at a premium over the equivalent Baleno variants. Speaking of variants, the Glanza will be available in J and V variants, where the V will be the higher end variant. The Glanza’s G variant is likely to be equivalent to the Maruti Baleno’ Delta trim while the V variant is expected to match the Alpha in terms of equipment on offer.

The rear end sports the exact same design. The difference is in the form of the new badging. To let you know, Toyota and Suzuki have a tie-up globally too. On the question of if the Glanza will carry something extra apart from the price, thankfully Toyota will offer a longer warranty. The company will offer 3 year/1 lakh km warranty on the Glanza. On the contrary, Maruti Suzuki offers a 2 year/40K km warranty on the Baleno.

The interiors sport no changes whatsoever, except the badging on the steering. What we expect is that Toyota could have tweaked/changed the UI of the 7-inch infotainment system carried over from the Baleno to the Glanza.

To let you know, both the Baleno and the Glanza are built at Suzuki’s Gujrat plant and even the same line. The image above shows the instrument cluster of the Glanza, which is the same as the one found on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The MID, dials and backlight colours are all the same as seen on Baleno’s console.

The engine powering the Glanza will be the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit. This engine churns out 82 Bhp of power along with 112 Nm of torque. On the Toyota Glanza, this will be the only engine option available at the time of its launch and it will come with both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. Toyota initially aims to sell 2,000 units of the Glanza monthly, which seems to be a modest target.
