As the launch date of the Toyota Glanza is nearing, more and more detail about the Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s rebadged cousin is being revealed. Now, just a couple of weeks before its launch, details regarding the Glanza’s engine options, fuel efficiency and variants have been revealed by Autocar India. To let you know, the launch event of the Toyota Glanza will happen on the 6th of June, 2019. It is essentially the same car as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno barring for a few minor changes. Let’s now take a look at all the details that have surfaced about the premium hatchback.
The Toyota Glanza will come with two variants to choose from – G and V. The G variants will sit lower in the lineup while the V variants will be the top of the line ones. The G trim is basically based on the Zeta trim of the Baleno. On the other hand, the V trim is based on the top of the line Alpha variants of the Baleno. There will be a total of four versions of the Toyota Glanza on offer considering all engine-gearbox combinations. They will be – G, G CVT, V and V CVT.
Talking about the features that the Toyota ganza will come equipped with, they are pretty much the same as on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This includes auto climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, navigation and voice commands, precision-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, steering-mounted audio controls and push-button start, along with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors among others.
The difference in features between the G and V variants of the Glanza are quite negligible. The exclusive features that the V variants of the Glanza will come equipped with are UV-cut glass, LED DRLs for the headlights, different LED treatment for the tail-lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights with follow-me functionality and a reverse camera.
As reported earlier, the Toyota Glanza will come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 82 Bhp of power along with 112 Nm of torque. However, the car will also come with a second engine that will be the 1.2-litre, K12C DualJet engine with a mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 89 Bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. to let you know, both these engines will be BSVI compliant.
The 1.2-litre DualJet Smart Hybrid engine on the Glanza will only be available on the base G variant. This means it will only come with a manual gearbox option. The G trim will also get a CVT box but the G CVT variant will come with the K12B engine (non-hybrid). Talking of the V trim, it will only get the K12B engine but will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Simply put, the 1.2-litre DualJet Smart Hybrid engine will only come equipped on one variant, that is the base G variant and will not get the CVT box as an option. CVT option on the G variant will be available with the K12B engine.
Mileage is one of the biggest deciding factors when buying a car in India. Talking about the fuel efficiency of the Toyota Glanza, the V MT delivers 21.01 km/l, the G MT (Hybrid) variant delivers 23.87 km/l and the G CVT/V CVT variants deliver 19.56 km/l. These mileage figures are in fact identical to that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
