Toyota will soon launch the Glanza hatchback in the Indian market. It will be the first product from the Suzuki-Toyota alliance in the Indian market it will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback. The rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Glanza looks identical to the Balneo except for the new grille and logos. The upcoming hatchback has been spied multiple times now and it has been spotted at many Toyota stockyards too.
The Toyota Glanza has been spotted again by Team-BHP member decode and these are the clearest pictures of the car ever. The new pictures show the front, rear, door handle with keyless entry button, dashboard, infotainment system, headlamp, tail lamp, alloy wheels and the engine of the vehicle. Even the new pictures confirm that the Glanza will get identical exteriors, features and interiors as the Baleno.
The only change that the Glanza gets is the front grille that has been updated with horizontal slats from the Baleno’s new 3D grille. On the inside, the Glanza will be identical to the Baleno and will offer the same dashboard, steering wheel, infotainment system among other safety features like dual airbags and ABS+EBD.
In fact, a spy picture also showed the automatic transmission gear lever in the Glanza that ensures the launch of the 1.2-litre K12B VVT engine that powers the Baleno too. However, the Glanza can also get the all-new 1.2-litre KB12C DualJet BS-VI engine that was recently launched with the Baleno recently in the Indian market. The DualJet engine in the Glanza offers an SHVS mild hybrid system and also offers slightly more power at 90 PS and 113 Nm. However, the DualJet engine option only offers a manual transmission while the regular 1.2-litre VVT engine offers both 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
On the inside, both the cars share a similar set-up and even the layout of the dashboard remains the same. The Toyota Glanza will also utilise the same steering wheel available with the Baleno and the only change done to the car is replacement of all the Maruti Suzuki logos.
The Glanza will be initially available in two trims in the Indian market, which will be based on the top-end versions of the Baleno. Since Toyota will get fully-loaded versions for sale, the base price of the Glanza will be much higher than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This will become the first-ever premium hatchback in the Indian market from the Toyota brand.
Toyota will launch the all-new car next month in the Indian market but the Toyota dealership network across India will soon get the Glanza as a display car. Toyota is also expected to offer a higher three-year or 1 lakh km warranty on the Glanza compared to the two-year/40,000 km warranty.
