The mid size SUV segment is a highly competitive segment and the most popular SUV in this segment include Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Soon, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will be launching their Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Grand Vitara in the market. Bookings for both the SUVs have already started and they are both receiving a good response from buyers. Official launch and price reveal of both these SUVs will happen in September. Toyota Hyryder media drives recently happened in Karnataka and the SUV was spotted next to Kia Seltos which is one of its prime rival in the segment. Here we have a video where the dimensions of Toyota Hyryder are compared with Kia Seltos.

The Toyota Hyryder will be longest car in the segment. The SUV is 4,365 mm long. The Kia Seltos on the other hand is 4,315 mm long. In the video, Toyota Hyryder looks taller and wider but, you would be surprised to know that it is not as tall or wide as the Kia Seltos. Kia Seltos SUV is 1,800 mm wide and has a height of 1,645 mm. Toyota Hyryder on paper has a width of 1,795 mm and a height of 1,635 mm. It is probably the design or the angle at which the video is being shot, the Hyryder looks bigger.

Although Toyota Hyryder is the longest in the segment, it does not translate into a longer wheelbase. In fact, the wheelbase of Toyota Hyryder is 10 mm less than the Kia Seltos. The Kia Seltos has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm while Hyryder gets 2,600 mm only. Toyota Hyryder however offers more ground clearance. It offers 205 mm ground clearance while Kia Seltos gets 190 mm only. In terms of design, Toyota Hyryder was looking like a premium SUV while Kia Seltos looks bold and muscular with its sharp body lines. In 2019, when Kia launched Seltos, it quickly became popular among buyers for its bold looks and feature loaded cabin. It was also one of the first cars in the country to come with variety of engine and transmission options for customers.
Toyota Hyryder on the other hand comes with two petrol engine options only. One of them is a strong hybrid while the other is mild hybrid version. Kia Seltos is offered with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which comes with manual, iMT and an IVT gearbox. Then there is a 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine that gets 6-speed manual and a DCT gearbox. The third engine option is the 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine that comes with iMT, manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota Hyryder gets two petrol engine options. The strong hybrid version uses a 1.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine that will come with a e-CVT as standard. This version of the Hyryder can be used as a pure EV, regular petrol car or can use combined power from the battery pack and the engine. The mild hybrid version uses a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine which is developed by Suzuki. This engine gets mild hybrid version which enhances the overall fuel economy and the car gets a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
