Just a few days ago the company also revealed that it sold 19,693 units in July, which was the most the company has ever sold in a single month since it began doing business in India. Consequently, as compared to its wholesales during the same period the previous year, there was a growth of 50%. TKM sold 13,105 units in July 2021 as a point of comparison. TKM also reported a 19% increase in wholesale sales from the 16,500 units it sold in June 2022.

Commenting on the announcement, Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales, and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, “The month of July has been phenomenal for the company. Both in terms of sales as well as our endeavor towards “mass electrification” in India, as we unveiled the first self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle in the high volume B SUV segment- the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The response to the model has been exceptional, especially the customer’s choice for strong hybrids, further reiterating Toyota’s global prowess when it comes to the manufacturing and sales of electrified vehicles worldwide. We are humbled by such an encouraging response and would like to thank our customers for placing their trust in the brand.”

He further added, “Last month also witnessed TKM’s highest ever wholesales in a single month, ever since we started operations in India. This significant milestone also reinforces the popularity our segment leading models like the Innova Crysta, Fortuner & the Legender enjoy. The cool new Glanza as well as the Urban Cruiser continue to gather momentum as well as very encouraging booking orders. The Camry Hybrid and the Vellfire too, continue to garner healthy customer orders”.

In other Innova Crysta news, Toyota could be launching the new generation of MPV by Diwali this year. The current Innova Crysta runs on the IMV platform and the IMV chassis is a ladder-frame chassis that is also utilised in the Hilux pick-up truck and the Fortuner. However, the next-generation Innova will be based on TNGA-C or simply GA-C. (Global Architecture C). This is the same platform as Corolla.

Some design features might also be borrowed from the Toyota Voxy and Noah, both of which are available in Japan. The 2022 Innova might also possibly be based on the 670B in certain ways. It is also expected that the forthcoming Innova will no longer be offered with a diesel engine. Reports claim that Toyota will use a 2.0-litre hybrid engine which could be a localized version of Toyota Hybrid System II.
