Toyota Land Cruiser Prado launched in India to take on Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz GLS

Toyota has launched the updated Land Cruiser Prado in India. The luxury SUV is priced at Rs. 92.6 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This a facelifted version of the current model, which was first launched in 2009. Toyota unveiled the updated version of the SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show and then showcased at the same at the 2018 Auto Expo in India.

The new Land Cruiser will come to India as a completely built unit and will be offered with only one variant – VxL. The car gets many updates on the outside and inside to set it apart from the previous model. The front grille has become larger and it gives a very fresh feeling to the SUV. The headlamps have been redesigned too and get new DRLs, which complement the larger grille quite nicely. Toyota has also redesigned the bonnet of the vehicle to improve the visibility.

To increase water wading capabilities, the grille cooling and headlamp cooling opening have been moved further up. To complete the brute looks, the bumpers have been tweaked too. The new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift is 60mm longer and offers a new range of 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors have been updated to keep up with the times too. There is a bigger 8-inch display for the infotainment system and a 4.2-inch MID unit in the instrument cluster. The dashboard design has been tweaked and the vehicle also gets a new steering wheel and white illumination for the instrument panel.

The vehicle stays heavy when it comes to equipment. It features a three-zone climate control system, park assist, heated and ventilated seats, cruise control, 9-speaker audio system, seven airbags and many more such things. The safety net includes adAVS with EBD, vehicle stability control, active headrest, hill start and downhill assist among other features. There is also Adaptive Variable Suspension which can adapt to different terrains and set the ABS and EBD to behave according to the new terrain too.

The SUV draws power from a 3.0-litre D-4D, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum of 171 Bhp at 3,400 rpm and 410 Nm of peak torque between 1,600 – 2,800 rpm. It gets a 5-speed automatic transmission and an All-Wheel-Drive system.
