Toyota is all set to release the 2022 Glanza on 15th March. They have released several teasers of the new premium hatchback and also opened pre-bookings. Now, there is a new teaser video that shows the front of the Glanza. The front fascia is different from the Baleno which is a good thing.
We can see that the design of the LED Daytime Running Lamp is different from the Baleno. However, the headlamp design and the projector setup is still the same. There is also a new grille that is inspired by the Corolla Altis.
The front bumper is also different and looks sporty. There is a plastic cladding in the shape of horns that gives a very aggressive look to the front when compared to the Baleno. The fog lamp surrounds are also different and they get a chrome surround too. On the sides, there are diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rest of the side profile and rear stays the same as the Baleno, except for the Toyota badging.

Interior is different
The interior also has some changes when compared to the Baleno. Glanza’s interior is finished in a black and beige theme which gives an airy and a more up-market feel to the cabin. Whereas Baleno’s interior is finished in the black and blue interior. Also, the silver inserts found in the interior of Baleno are replaced by piano-black inserts.
The rest of the interior and its design stays the same. So, there is a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, analogue instrument cluster with a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, push-button to start/stop the engine, keyless entry and much more.
Toyota is also offering the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has been co-developed with Maruti Suzuki. It is larger than the previous 7-inch unit. However, lower variants will still get a 7-inch unit. The new system also supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and it shows multiple tabs. You can activate voice commands by saying “Hey Toyota”. There is also connected car technology on offer through which you would be able to control various functions of the car. You would also be able to track the vehicle and geofence it.
Engine, gearbox & fuel efficiency
Toyota is using the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that Maruti Suzuki is using for the Baleno. The engine produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. As of now, Toyota has revealed the fuel efficiency of the AMT gearbox which is rated at 22.9 kmpl as per ARAI. The fuel efficiency of the manual gearbox would also be close to 22 kmpl.
Variants
Glanza would be offered in four variants. There would be E, V, G and S. The V, G and S variants would also be offered with the AMT transmission. The E variant, being the base trim will come only with the manual gearbox.
