Toyota recently announced that the brand will not launch any new cars this year. Now the company is selling the all-new Fortuner and the Innova Crysta like hot cakes in the market but both of them come with a huge waiting period. Toyota is now working on bringing down the waiting period for the convenience of the customers.
The new Fortuner comes with a waiting period of three months while the Innova Crysta has a waiting period of one to three months depending on the variant. The Fortuner has received a great response from the market.
The company has received an order of more than 20,180 units for the Fortuner and has already sold more than 12,200 units. The Innova Crysta, on the other hand, has sold over 85,000 units and the popularity of the vehicle keeps on increasing.
N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) told IANS: “We are capitalising all our efficiencies towards reducing the waiting period. The new Fortuner along with the Innova Crysta is produced in Plant 1 in Bidadi, Karnataka. Plant 1 has a production capacity of 100,000 units in a year and is currently running at 90-95 percent capacity.” He went on to add, “The new Fortuner currently has a waiting period of three months and our focus right now is to reduce the waiting period so that we can deliver the vehicle to our customers.”
Both the vehicles are made at company’s twin plants in Karnataka that have an annual production capacity of 310,000 units. However, both the plants are currently running at 90 – 95% of its full capacity. Fortuner and the Innova Crysta are the current segment leader in the market where they trail their competitors by a huge margin. Both Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner are priced at a premium price and yet the market response is phenomenal towards them. Toyota also launched the Innova Crysta Touring Sport to mark the completion of one year of the vehicle in the market.
