Toyota has launched its second rebadged product in the Indian market – the Urban Cruiser. The vehicle is based on the updated Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which was launched earlier this year. With the Urban Cruiser, Toyota has now entered the growing sub-4m SUV segment, which is growing and the launch of the all-new Sonet a few days ago. Toyota has priced the Urban Cruiser at Rs 8.4 lakhs, which makes it more expensive than the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which is priced at Rs. 7.34 lakhs. Below the variant-wise price of the all-new Urban Cruiser. For reference, the base variant of Hyundai Venue is priced at Rs 6.75 lakhs, Tata Nexon’s entry-level version is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh while the newly launched Sonet gets a base price tag of Rs 6.71 lakhs. The deliveries will begin in mid October.

The all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser is available in three variants – Mid, High and Premium, which are based on the VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Unlike the Glanza, which is based on the Baleno and gets no changes, the Urban Cruiser gets a few changes that make it look slightly different from the Vitara Brezza. The front-end of the Urban Cruiser gets a new grille, which is inspired by the Toyota Fortuner. Also, the front bumper of the Urban Cruiser makes it look different from the Vitara Brezza. Apart from these changes, the Toyota SUV also gets different alloy wheels compared to the Vitara Brezza but everything else remains the same. The Urban Cruiser will be available with nine colour options. There are six single-colour option and three dual-tone options.

On the inside, Toyota has updated the upholstery to new brown fabric, which makes it look airy and large. The Vitara Brezza gets all-black upholstery. The features, instrument cluster, infotainment system, safety features and everything else remain identical to the Vitara Brezza.
The Urban Cruiser gets powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 105 PS and peak torque of 138 Nm. It will offer a 5-speed manual transmission and all the three variants will also get 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. Only the automatic variants of the Urban Cruiser will get the mild-hybrid technology just like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It delivers a similar fuel efficiency too.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser’s base variant will come with a long list of features including LED projector headlamps with DRL, LED tail lamps, 16-inch steel rims, 2-DIN audio system with USB and Bluetooth, keyless entry and go and automatic climate control system. The Mid variant of the Urban Cruiser will get 16-inch alloy wheels, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also offer cruise control system. The top-end variant of the Urban Cruiser will also get LED fog lamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, auto-dimming IRVM and rain-sensing wipers.
Toyota will also offer 3-year/1 lakh km warranty on the vehicle, which is much higher than the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The customers of Urban Cruiser will also get the roadside assistance package for free.
