We are all aware about the ongoing partnership between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota in India. As part of this partnership both manufacturers will be sharing models and technologies with each other. The first product to come out of this partnership was Toyota’s Glanza which is basically a rebadged version of the Maruti Baleno premium hatchback that is sold via Nexa dealerships. Toyota is now all set to launch the next product Urban Cruiser which is a sub-4 meter compact SUV. It will be launched in the market later today and here is all that you need to know about this sub-4 meter, compact SUV.
As many of us already this is going to be the second product to come out from Maruti and Toyota partnership after Glanza. Just like Glanza, Urban Cruiser is a rebadged version of Maruti’s popular compact SUV Vitara Brezza. Unlike Glanza, this time around Toyota has made some changes to the Brezza in terms of styling to give it a different look.

Urban Cruiser is based on the facelifted Maruti Brezza that was launched in the market earlier this year. Toyota’s version of Brezza will get few cosmetic changes at the front. The front grille on the Urban cruiser will be similar to the one seen in other Toyota SUVs. The new grille gives it a bold look and makes it look a bit more matured. The front bumper has also been slightly revised and the fog lamp area has also been redesigned.
Apart from that no major changes are visible on the Urban Cruiser. It will come with dual projector headlamps, dual function LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, diamond cut dual tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamp and so on. The cabin of Toyota Urban Cruiser will be the same as Maruti Brezza. It will offer features like push button start, touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, dual tone interiors and so on.
The Brezza is now available with a petrol engine only and the same engine and transmission will be available with Urban Cruiser as well. It will be a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated unit that generates 103 Bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. It will be available with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox option. The automatic version will get Smart Hybrid technology as well.
Toyota had recently announced a ‘Respect Package‘ to its customer who have booked the Urban Cruiser even before physically seeing the car. In this package, Toyota was offering no-cost periodic maintenance for 20,000 kms or 2 years (whichever comes first) to the buyer.
