Toyota Vellfire, the most expensive MPV from the Japanese car manufacturer is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming days. The vehicle has already been spotted on the Indian roads and a few units of the Vellfire have already been put on display in various showrooms in India. The all-new Toyota Vellfire will be launched in the Indian market in early 2020 and it has been officially confirmed by the brand.
Toyota is known for vehicles like Toyota Innova Crysta, which is one of the most successful MPVs in the Indian market. The all-new Vellfire will be the most expensive MPV in the domestic market and it will be priced at around Rs 85-90 lakhs. The all-new Vellfire will be sold in the Indian markets as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which will attract a lot of taxes causing the price of the vehicle to rise quite high. With the new rules, manufacturers in India are allowed to sell imported vehicles without going through the homologation process if the total numbers of units sold in the country remain below 2,500 units every year.
The Toyota Vellfire will take on the likes of Mercedes-Benz V-Class, which was launched sometime back in the Indian market. Toyota currently sells CBUs like the Land Cruiser in the Indian market and these cars are extremely popular in the Indian market. There are a large number of celebrities and high profile businessmen who use the Land Cruiser as their daily vehicles. Toyota will target a similar set of customers when it comes to the Vellfire.
The luxury MPV, Vellfire looks quite futuristic, especially from the front-end. It gets a chrome dipped front-end and grille with sleek split headlamps with LEDs. The Velliire gets dual-tone alloy wheels that add a clean look to the car. At the rear, it gets LED split tail lamps and a thick chrome strip that connects both the lamps together.
The Vellfire will be available in a six-seat layout. It is extremely luxurious with features like heated and cooled seats, electronically adjustable footrest and retractable food tables for the middle row passengers. The Toyota Vellfire spotted in India did not have an infotainment system or other high-end features on the dashboard. It is quite possible that Toyota will launch two versions of the vehicle, which will target two different segments in the market.
The all-new Vellfire will get a 2.5-litre hybrid petrol engine. It will only engine that will be available with the Velffire in the Indian market. The engine develops a maximum power of 180 PS and peak torque of 235 Nm. It gets a CVT automatic transmission.
