Toyota Kirloskar Motor will soon enter a new segment in the Indian market with the Yaris. The mid-size sedan is creating quite a buzz in the segment and Toyota was scheduled to launch the car on 18th May. However, the launch date has been pushed back and the Yaris will now be launched on 23rd May instead. The Yaris will be powered by only a petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 108 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The car will get many unique features that make it stand out from the rest. Here are five segment-leading features of the upcoming Toyota Yaris.
7 airbags – The seven airbags is a segment first. In fact, it is a first in any affordable car in India. Toyota will offer the 7 airbags with all the variants of the Yaris, which makes it even more appealing. All the variants of the Yaris will get dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags and driver knee airbags. Competitors like Hyundai Verna and Honda City offer up to 6 airbags in the top end variant only.
Automatics – The new Yaris will be launched with 7-stepped CVT automatic transmission. Yes, it is not a segment-leading feature but automatic transmission across all the variants is segment-leading. Toyota will offer 7 variants of the Yaris in the Indian market. Out of which, four will be automatic and three will be manual transmission. This is the first time that a manufacturer is offering more automatic options than manual.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) – TPMS is a really important safety feature. The Yaris will become the first car to get it in the segment. The TPMS shows real-time pressure in each and every wheel on the console that makes sure that optimum tyre pressure is maintained for fuel efficiency and safety too. TPMS prevents a lot of tyre bursts with early warning.
Electrically adjustable driver seat – The Yaris will offer first-in-segment electrically adjustable driver seat that will enable the driver to fine-tune the seat settings. Unlike the regular seat adjusters, electrically adjustable seat adjustment offers small movements that allow the driver to get the perfect seating posture while driving.
Roof-mounted AC – Now that’s a really innovative way to save some rear space while not cutting down on comfort. The Yaris gets roof-mounted AC vents that throw air to passengers in the rear. The AC can be turned to cool the front passengers in case there are no rear passengers.
