Toyota Yaris launched, with 7 airbags even on the base variant!

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has finally announced the prices of the much anticipated Toyota Yaris C2-segment sedan. The prices of the new Toyota Yaris start at Rs 8.75 lakh and go all the way till Rs 14.07 lakh. Bookings of the new sedan are already underway and deliveries will start from May 2018. The prices you see on this page are introductory and are subject to revision in the coming months. The booking amount is pegged at Rs 50,000.

At this price point, the Yaris offers the highest number of passive and active safety features. The Toyota Yaris gets mini-me Corolla Altis looks and is brimming with standard safety features across all the trims. For example, all the variants come with as many as 7 airbags (Front dual airbags, side airbags, curtain shield airbags and a knee airbag for the driver). Moreover, the car gets disc brakes on all the four wheels.

Tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS+EBD, traction control, ESP, hill hold assist, front and rear proximity sensors, cruise control and a reverse parking camera are the various other safety features on the car. Comfort- and convenience-enhancing features include High Solar Energy Absorbing (HSEA), IR cut, Acoustic & Vibration Control Glass, Power Driver Seat, Roof mounted air vents, ambient illumination for rear passengers, and keyless entry and push-button start/stop.

The Toyota Yaris will go on to rival the likes of Honda City (Rs 8.91-14.10 lakh), Hyundai Verna (Rs 7.8-12.95 lakh), and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (Rs 8.01-11.94 lakh). While all its rivals offer petrol and diesel engine options, the Yaris will have a petrol engine only. The 1.5-litre petrol engine that powers the Yaris outputs 108 PS and 140 Nm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission on all the variants. There’s also an optional CVT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and 7 stepped ratios and is also available on all the trims. The CVT is available with paddle-shifts and cruise control.
