Toyota Yaris: New details about the Maruti Ciaz challenger emerge ahead of launch

Toyota is expected to launch the Yaris C-Segment sedan in India on the 18th of May, 2018. First drives of this car have been scheduled in April. Here are a range of new details about the Yaris, which have been revealed on a popular automotive forum in India.

V and VX grades have been confirmed on the Yaris, a petrol-only sedan. A G grade may also be offered as an aggressively priced base variant. Toyota is also expected to offer automatic gearbox option on all variants of the Yaris to make it attractive to a wide set of buyers.

A 6 speed manual gearbox will be standard. The automatic gearbox will be a CVT unit with 7 stepped shifts. Paddle shifters will be offered in the car. The engine will be a 1.5 liter unit with 4 cylinders. Variable valve timing will be standard. Outputs, although not officially confirmed, are likely to be pegged at 108 Bhp and 140 Nm.

The Yaris will not get a diesel engine. It will sit in between the Etios and Corolla Altis in terms of price and positioning. Other new details about the car is that it will be offered in 7 colours: Pearl White, Silver, Grey, Black, Super White, Blue (Dark or Light) and Brown.

Toyota will load up the Yaris will features. The full list of features on the car include push button start/stop, cruise control, 7 ABS with EBD, roof mounted AC vents, ambient lighting gesture-sensing touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play & Android Auto, cooled glovebox, height adjustable driver’s seat, reverse camera, front & rear parking sensors, 4.2? MID, and alloy wheels, leather seats, DRLs, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring system, and electrically adjustable driver’s seat. These features will be available on the top-end VX trim. Lower variants will see a few features omitted.
