TVS Akula spied for the first time in production guise

The TVS Apache RTR 310 is one of the most awaited motorcycles of this year. TVS is all set to launch the bike this July. For the first time, the RTR 310 has been spotted in the production guise, and it looks pretty close to the Akula, the concept model showcased at the Auto Expo 2016.

The model features similar lines and curves like the Akula, but they have been toned down a bit. The production model also does not offer the carbon fibre body parts that were showcased on the concept model. There is a dual headlamp set-up, split seats, clip-on handlebars and Pirelli tyres.

The TVS Apache RTR 310 will be the first product that will be launched developed by the alliance of TVS-BMW. The RTR 310 R will be based on the BMW G 310R naked motorcycle and will be first fully faired motorcycle from the TVS brand. The motorcycle will compete against the likes of KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and the Benelli Tornado 302R in the market.

The RTR 310 R will be powered by the 313cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that will also power the BMW G 310R. The engine generates 34 BHP of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of maximum torque at 7,500 rpm and comes with a 6-speed gearbox. TVS may re-tune the engine on the track-focused motorcycle unlike the G 310R, which is a touring motorcycle.

TVS will aim the price the bike very competitively. The price is expected to hover around Rs. 1.7 lakh, ex-showroom. Keep checking the space as we bring more information on the same.
