In 2017, TVS had launched their flagship motorcycle Apache RR 310 in the market and after that BMW Motorrad made their entry into the affordable motorcycle segment with BMW G 310 R naked and BMW G310 GS adventure motorcycle. The best part about these motorcycle is that all three of them use the same engine and are also manufactured at TVS’ production facility in Hosur. We have seen many drag race videos in the past and this time the drag race is between the TVS Apache RR 310 and the naked BMW G310 R motorcycle. Who wins the race? Let’s have a look at the video to find out.
The video has been uploaded by Ayush Verma on his youtube channel. The video shows both BMW and TVS motorcycles parked next to each other on a highway. The race is conducted in two rounds and before starting the race the vlogger informs that the rider on the RR 310 is heavier than him. The race starts and immediately G310 R moves off the line quickly.
The BMW takes the lead and maintain it for quite some time and the RR 310 is seen chasing the G310 R trying to overtake it. After some time, the Apache slowly starts gaining speed and due to the aerodynamic design and less drag it achieves a higher speed than the opponent and at around 163-164 kmph mark it smoothly overtakes the BMW and wins the first round.
In the second round, riders exchange motorcycles and the heavier rider was now riding the BMW G310 R. In comparison to the first round, the TVS Apache RR 310 takes the lead from the very first second the race started and maintained it till the end. The Apache achieved a higher top speed because of its aerodynamic design and the BMW is a naked motorcycle and had a lots of wind blast which restricted it from achieving its actual top speed.
The other reason obviously was the weight of the rider. Both motorcycles are great. They are both good at handling and look great on the road. The G310 R and RR 310 are powered by a 313-cc and 311-cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that generate a maximum of 33.6 Bhp, 28 Nm and 34 Bhp, 28 Nm of torque respectively. Both motorcycles are built by TVS Motors at its Hosur factory. TVS has tied up with BMW Motorrad to jointly develop and produce mid segment motorcycles for markets across the globe.
