The video has been uploaded by engineported youtube channel. The video simply takes us through all the information that we have about the upcoming Mahindra Thar. Starting with the size of the new Thar, The upcoming Mahindra Thar is based on a new platform and is longer and wider than the outgoing version. What this means is that it will have more space on the inside and have a more comfortable seat for passengers. 2020 Thar continues to get the signature seven slat grille with round headlamps on both sides. The lights now get LED DRLs and the tail lights are also likely to be LED units.
The front fender and wheel arches are likely to be made from fiberglass to comply with pedestrian safety norms. The Other major change that we will get to see on the upcoming Thar is a factory fitted hard top. There is possibility that Mahindra might offer soft top for lower version and removable hardtop for the top trims. The Thar will also get a sporty looking alloy wheel and the rear door glass is very similar to the one seen in Jeep Wrangler.
The interiors of the Jeep would also get a revamp. The top variants might get front facing regular seats whereas the lower trims might get a side facing bench seat similar to the one seen in the old version. The Thar would also get features like touchscreen infotainment system, new steering wheel, brand new instrument cluster, cruise control, ABS, airbags, reverse parking camera and sensors and so on.
The upcoming Thar is a proper off-roader and will get a proper 4×4 transfer case. The upcoming Thar will be powered by a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine that will generate a maximum of 140 Bhp and 300 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The same engine will be seen in the next generation Scorpio also. There is a possibility that Mahindra might launch Thar with a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine from mStallion series engine. It might be available with an automatic gearbox too. With all these changes and updates, the upcoming Thar will look butch on our roads and will also be pricier than before.
