Expected to be launched this year, the Datsun redi-GO was showcased in concept form at the 2014 Auto Expo. While the company decided to keep it away from the 2016 Auto Expo, the car can reach the market by mid-2016, as multiple reports suggest. GaadiWaadi has published a rendering of the production version of the same, and also hints at a possible launch in April this year, which is next month.
It remains to be seen how the real car turns out to be, but for now, let’s have a look at the publication’s rendition. There are sharp creases on the sides, and a plastic cladding is present on the lower part of the body.
Based on the same platform as the Renault Kwid, the Datsun redi-GO is expected to be cheaper. Powering the car can be the same 799 cc engine as the Renault or a larger 1.2-liter petrol engine that’s found in the Datsun GO.
The redi-GO can also miss out on some features because of the aggressive pricing. Given that the rendering looks close to the redi-GO concept, and if Datsun manages to turn it into reality, we’ll have another good-looking offering in the entry-level hatchback segment.
