Upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross spotted next to regular Baleno during road test [video]

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that they will be showcasing the production version of Baleno Cross or YTB at the Auto Expo next year. Maruti has not announced the official name of the crossover yet. YTB is the codename and it is currently being referred as Baleno Cross. Maruti is actively testing the vehicle before its official unveil next month. There are several videos of the test mule of Baleno Cross available online. Recently we also saw a nearly production-ready version of Baleno Cross on the road. Here we have a new video that shows a production-ready version of Baleno cross next to a previous generation Baleno hatchback.

The video has been uploaded by Harsh VLOGS on their YouTube channel. The new spy video shows a production-ready Baleno Cross on the road. The crossover is completely camouflaged. Vlogger started recording video as soon as he spotted the car on the road. The overall design of the YTB looks very similar to the current-gen Baleno that was launched earlier this year. The Baleno Cross will be getting extra muscle when compared to the regular hatchback. This will help the car in achieving the SUVish look that people are looking for. The car was being driven on pubic road and soon, it came to a junction where an older version of Baleno hatchback came next to the Baleno Cross.

The current generation Baleno looks beefier than the older-generation but, there is not much of a difference. The Baleno Cross on the other hand looks taller and more muscular than regular Baleno. The crossover definitely offers more ground clearance than the hatchback and it is quite evident in this video. The car seen here in the video looks like the top-end variant which comes with LED tail lamps, LED turn indicators, alloy wheels, and so on. The vlogger mentions that the Baleno Cross’s electric sunroof is visible but, we cannot see the same in the video. There is a shark fin antenna and the car also gets 360-degree camera and a roof-mounted spoiler and so on.

Upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross spotted next to regular Baleno during road test

The Baleno Cross looks as tall as the previous generation Hyundai Creta. The side profile of the car looks similar to the regular Baleno. We expect the car to come with thick cladding which would add a rugged or SUVish look to it. The video also shows a glimpse of the front fascia of the Baleno Cross. It is most likely to get a design inspired from the recently launched Grand Vitara. The upcoming Baleno Cross is expected to be powered by a 1.0 litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This is the same engine that was available with Baleno RS once. This engine generates 100 Ps and 150 Nm of peak torque. There is even a possibility that Maruti Suzuki might offer the same 1.2 litre NA petrol engine and the AWD feature as an option with the new crossover. Maruti has also started offering modern features with the car and the Baleno Cross is expected to be no different. It will be placed below the Grand Vitara and will come with features like HUD, electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless charging and so on.
