Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx spotted on road before official launch [Video]

By Shantonil Nag

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Fronx is all set to hit the showroom floors in a few days from now. However, the company is leaving no stone unturned in building up anticipation and public interest towards its new Baleno-based crossover. Maruti Suzuki is already on a spree of displaying the Fronx at NEXA dealerships across the country. Now, here’s footage of the new Fronx being driven on a public road, which gives us an idea of its road presence.

A YouTube Shorts video has surfaced on the video-sharing platform, which shows a Nexa Blue-coloured Maruti Suzuki Fronx being driven at a slow pace on a public road. In the video, the driver is seen steering the Fronx, which indicates how big this new crossover looks on the road.

As can be seen in the video, the Fronx has a slightly bigger road presence than the Baleno hatchback, on which it is based. However, compared to the Baleno, the Fronx has a completely new design, with its front profile looking heavily inspired by the Grand Vitara SUV. It is evident with its wide chrome-garnished grille and split headlamps design, which incorporates projector LEDs within them. The Fronx has an SUV-like design with body cladding over and front and rear skid plates.

The second half of the video gives a glimpse of the rear profile of the new Fronx. Since the video was taken during the night hours, the all-LED tail lamps connected with an LED light bar make the Fronx look striking from the rear. Due to the presence of a skid plate and body cladding and higher ground clearance, the Fronx looks slightly rugged in comparison to the Baleno.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Alpha

The variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx as seen in the video seems to be the top-spec Alpha variant, as is evident by the presence of cameras integrated into the rearview mirrors and the 16-inch machined alloy wheels. The top-spec Fronx Alpha will come loaded with new-gen features like a 360-degree parking camera, wireless charger and a 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Fronx Alpha seen in this video is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Dubbed “Boosterjet”, this engine claims 100 PS of power and 147 Nm of torque, and will be available with transmission choices of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. The Fronx will also be offered with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which develops 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, and will be available with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox choices.
