The launch of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny in India is just a few weeks away, and the top-spec Alpha variant has been showcased in all official teasers and visuals. However, the off-roader will also be offered in a lower-spec Zeta variant, which is the base model. A video from YouTube channel “Shaan Life” demonstrates the features that the Jimny Zeta will not have, compared to the Alpha variant. This comparison is based on information from the official brochure of Jimny, available on the authorized website of NEXA.
On the outside, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny Zeta will have black door handles instead of body-colored ones, 15-inch steel wheels, and halogen projectors, while the Alpha variant gets gunmetal grey alloy wheels and LED projectors, as well as front fog lamps, auto headlamps, and headlamp washers. Both the Zeta and Alpha variants come with chrome garnish for the front grille, wheel arch mouldings, and spare wheel cover.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny Zeta does not get cruise control, a leather finish for the steering wheel, or push start-stop button. The Zeta variant also has manual foldability for the outside rearview mirrors and a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, whereas the Alpha variant comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Arkamys sound and electrically-foldable rearview mirrors.
Regarding safety, both variants of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny have six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, reverse parking sensors and camera, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. Both variants come standard with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 104.8 PS of power and 134.2 Nm of torque and is offered with both 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission choices. A four-wheel drive system is also offered as standard in both the variants of the Jimny.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny to be priced competitively
Maruti Suzuki will be priced aggressively in the Indian market. Once released, the Jimny will become the only ladder-on-frame vehicle offered by the company in India and is specifically designed for off-road use. The model boasts Maruti Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro system, which offers 2H, 4H, and 4L low-range transfer gear options. The SUV will be equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that generates 103 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. Customers will have the option of choosing between a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed torque converter.
There are over 24,000 bookings done for the Jimny, which means there is likely to be a massive waiting period. Recently, the new Jimny was spotted in the upper Himlayas for an advertisement shoot. The price of the car is likely to be announced next month.
