MG Motors is on a roll in the Indian market. Their first vehicle in the market, the Hector is doing great on the sales charts and the brand is readying their second product, another SUV for the Indian market. The second vehicle from MG Motors will be an electric SUV and it has already been started testing in India. MG Motors has even confirmed that arrival of the vehicle in early 2020. Here is a video that shows the car under a heavy camouflage on the public roads.
The video from the Youtube channel shows the MG’s upcoming electric SUV, eZS testing on the Indian roads. The car was caught testing near Halol, Gujarat. It should be noted that the manufacturing plant of MG Motors is located in the same area. The MG eZS will be the second affordable electric SUV in the Indian market after the Hyundai Kona EV, which was launched earlier. According to the sales figures, the Hyundai Kona EV is sold-out in India, which speaks volumes about the popularity of the electric cars in India.
Talking about the MG eZS, it will be built in India unlike the Kona EV, which will ensure that it gets an affordable price tag. In fact, MG Motors has even done a trial production for the eZS in the Halol plant in June this year. It is quite possible that this test vehicle caught on the video is a made in India product, which was manufactured during the trial production of the model in the Indian market.
The MG eZS looks quite similar to the Hector in many ways but it is much smaller in size. The model that came out of the production line shows that the vehicle gets a front-end dominated by a chrome-dipped, mesh pattern grille. There are large sweptback projector headlaps and integrated LED DRL in place too. The socket to charge the vehicle is located in the front grille itself. The rear of the MG eZS gets horizontally oriented tail lamps. Both the bumpers get faux skid plates that make it look quite muscular. The eZS also gets five-spoke alloy wheels that look really classy on the car.
On the inside, the MG eZS gets a large touchscreen that will serve as the infotainment system. The vehicle also gets air vents stacked above the infotainment system. Even the MG eZS will get the same Internet Connected system.
The MG eZS gets a front-mounted 150 PS electric motor internationally. The car can run for 431 km on NEDC cycle. However, in India, the car may get a different motor and battery set-up. The MG eZS will go directly against the Hyundai Kona EV and will be priced at around Rs 20-25 lakhs.
