Upcoming new Toyota Corolla revealed, India launch by 2019 end

Japanese automaker Toyota has unveiled the latest iteration of its best selling car, the Corolla after a long wait. The car will be made available for sale after or during mid 2019 in Japan, China and many other markets. India launch could happen either in late 2019 or early 2020. In India, the new Corolla will prove to be a worthy competitor to the new Honda Civic, which could also be launched around the same time.

Talking about the new mid-range sedan, the latest Corolla is based on the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The car has maintained all of its trademark highlights like smooth engine and driveability, ride comfort, quality interiors and safety. It has grown a bit than the previous generation model and is also lower in height, though the wheelbase has not been changed. Talking about the exteriors, the new Corolla looks a step up from the previous generation designs. It features a new sleek headlamp cluster along with gorgeous alloy wheels. The rear and side profiles also look much smarter now, thanks to the new design platform which has allowed the car to have a more lowered stance.

The interiors also have gone for an upgrade and look much better now. The dashboard gets a dual tone theme and is neatly designed, leaving little space for clutter. A floating touch infotainment system adorns the centre deck, atop the dashboard. Then there is a 4.2-inch display on the instrument cluster which is standard across the range and a 7 inch instrument display on the top end models. Connectivity is not an issue with the car offering every option available in the market. The seats are plush without enough legroom on offer to seat an adult comfortably.

The car will be powered by a new 2.0-litre petrol motor that produces 171 Bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque. There will also be the old 1.8 litre engine that carried front he older models made available for the US market. However, it will be tuned for more power and efficiency this time around. A hybrid powertrain will be introduced in the car shortly after the launch too. While which engine would be made available in India is not yet sure, the car will be sold here as Corolla Altis, as the current model here is called.
