Royal Enfield will soon launch the much-awaited 650 twins in India. The Interceptor and the Continental GT 650 will be launched in November. But before that, Royal Enfield dealers have started accepting bookings unofficially for both the new bikes. As per the Royal Enfield dealership, the official bookings will start after the Royal Enfield’s annual event – RiderMania. It is scheduled to take place on 17-18 November. Royal Enfield has already launched both the bikes in the USA market and has priced the bike quite aggressively. In India too, the Royal Enfield twins would get an exciting price tag, which will be around Rs. 3 lakhs. The booking amount is Rs. 5,000.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 get an all-new parallel-twin engine. The Interceptor is is a cruiser bike and gets a very classy body design. It gets an upright seating posture. It will be the affordable model between both the upcoming bikes. The Continental GT is a cafe racer styled machine with an aggressive seating posture. It looks similar to the Continental GT 535 but Royal Enfield has officially discontinued the bike. Both the bikes share a lot of components and body parts.
Royal Enfield has developed the all-new 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled, SOHC engine that develops a maximum of 47 Bhp and 52 Nm. The power is transferred to the rear wheel through a 6-speed transmission. They would be the fastest production Royal Enfield motorcycles and would be able to cross 160 km/h. Both the bikes get conventional telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The disc brake on both the wheels are standard in both the bikes and ABS is offered as standard too.
Royal Enfield will officially announce the price of both the bikes in India by mid-November. That’s when the official bookings would start too. The deliveries are expected to start by the end of this year. With such an exciting price tag, the demand for the 650 twins could be phenomenal and long waiting periods are expected. Both the bikes would be offered with a range of customisation and accessories at the Royal Enfield dealerships.
