The scooter segment is growing at a fast rate. The Auto Expo 2018 saw a number of new scooters being unveiled in the country. However, other than the new scooters that were unveiled at the Expo, there are also some other models that will soon be launched in the country. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of upcoming scooters in India that will be launched in 2018.
Suzuki Burgman Street 125
The maxi-scooter concept is finally becoming popular in the country. Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) showcased the 125-cc Burgman Street at the Auto Expo 2018 and will launch the new model here in a few months of time. The new scooter is powered by the same motor that also powers the Access 125. The Burgman has got unconventional looks and boasts of features like LED headlamps, a large footboard, and a very comfortable saddle. Its engine outputs a maximum power of 10 bhp along with a peak torque of 10 Nm. The motor comes mated to an automatic gearbox. Expect a festive season launch.
Aprilia Storm 125
Piaggio India unveiled two new scooters at the Auto Expo 2018. One of these was the SR125, which is already on sale now. The other was a slightly more stylish version, which is called the Storm 125. It gets the same engine that powers the SR125. The single-pot motor outputs a maximum power of 9.6 PS and a peak torque of 9.9 Nm. The major difference between the Storm 125 and the SR125 is that the former looks slightly more rugged than the latter. The launch is expected to take place in the coming months.
Hero Duet 125
Hero MotoCorp unveiled two scooters at the Auto Expo 2018. One of these was the 125cc Hero Duet. It will be launched the market in coming months. Powering the Duet is a 125cc single-cylinder engine that offers a maximum power of 8.7 Bhp along with a peak torque of 10.2 Nm. The new scooter offers features like an Integrated Braking System, a service reminder, a high beam pass switch, and an external fuel-filler cap. The upcoming 125cc scooter will compete with the likes of Hero Access 125. The launch is very likely to take place in the third quarter of this year.
Hero Maestro 125
Another Hero MotorCorp scooter that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 was the Maestro 125. The upcoming 125-cc automatic scooter will play the bigger sibling to the Maestro Edge. it will be powered by the same 8.7 bhp-10.2 Nm motor that powers the Duet 125. The launch is expected to take place this summer.
The final scooter in our list of upcoming scooters in India is the Asther S340. The upcoming electric scooter offers many connectivity features and will be a premium product priced between the Honda Activa and the Piaggio Vespa. The scooter will get into production very soon and will be launched in the coming months. Powering the Asther S340 will be an electric motor that will get its juice from lithium-ion batteries. The electric motor outputs a maximum power of 3KW or 5KW, depending on the variant. It will enjoy a peak torque of 14 Nm. The scooter has a claimed top speed of 72 kmph and a total range of 100 kms.
