Upcoming Skoda Slavia mid-size sedan: Official video reveals more

Skoda is preparing to launch their new vehicle under INDIA 2.0 Strategy. It is called Slavia and they have already unveiled it. The official launch of Slavia will happen in the first half of 2022. Now, the Czech manufacturer has released a new video on their YouTube channel that showcases the exterior of the new mid-size sedan.

The video starts by showing the front of the Slavia. It comes with Skoda’s hexagonal grille which some people call butterfly grille. There is also a chrome surround around the grille. There are LED projector headlamps with L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. Skoda calls them Crystalline LED headlamps. There are fog lamps with chrome surrounds.

Then the video shows us the tail lamps of the Slavia which also uses LED elements and have a split design. The rear bumper is simple and gets a black honeycomb pattern with two reflectors. There is Skoda badging right in the centre of the boot lid. You also get rear parking sensors mounted in the rear bumper.

There is Skoda badging on the front fenders. The badging itself gets piano black and chrome. Other features shown in the video is a shark-fin antenna, an electric sunroof that comes with anti-pinch technology, LED turn indicators mounted on the outside rearview mirrors with auto-fold function, keyless entry and body-coloured door handles with a chrome strip.

There are also some other features that Skoda unveiled earlier. The Slavia will come with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Skoda Play Apps. It will come connected to Skoda’s High-Performance Speaker System that includes 8 speakers and a subwoofer. There would also be an 8-inch digital instrument cluster that will show all the vital information to the driver and will also consist of a multi-information display. Moreover, there would also be perforated leather upholstery and front ventilated seats.

Other features that Skoda will offer are automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, a two-spoke steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror,  rear AC vents, push-button to start/stop the engine and a rear armrest

For safety, Skoda is offering Electronic Stability Control, upto 6 airbags, Multi-Collision Braking, Anti-Lock Braking System, Traction Control, Brake Disc Wiping and Electronic Brake Distribution.

Engine and gearbox

Skoda will offer the Slavia in two different turbocharged petrol engines. There will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine. Both will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The 1.0 TSI produces a max power output of 115 PS and a peak torque output of 178 Nm. Most people will be opting for this engine because it will be more affordable and will be enough for city use. You would also be able to get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with it.

The 1.5 TSI produces 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be considered by enthusiasts. Moreover, this engine makes the Slavia, the most powerful sedan in the segment. It will also come mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Rivals

Skoda Slavia will be competing against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus.
