Suzuki recently entered the quarter-litre segment in India with the launch of Suzuki Gixxer 250 in the Indian market. Suzuki is now working on the higher-capacity Intruder, which will reportedly take on the likes of Royal Enfield and also the all-new Jawa bikes. The exact timeframe of the launch of the all-new Intruder 250 is not known yet but it is likely to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Here is a rendering image by IAB, which gives an indication of what the bike will look like when it is launched in the market.
The Intruder 250 will look very much inspired by the Intruder 155. However, it will look much beefier than the entry-level Intruder. The rendered image shows a larger, updated headlamp at the front with a small kink in the top, which is placed there to work as a DRL. The tank really looks huge, especially with the plastic panels on them. The plastic add-ons on the tank perfectly sync with the seat line. There is also a small visor placed above the front headlamp that will really help with the high-speed winds while riding the back.
The lower portion of the bike gets an all-black treatment. The rear of the bike also looks very chunky. The seat of the bike is a single piece but the rear is slightly raised, which helps to make the pillion sit comfortably. The Gixxer is meant to be ridden in a comfortable position and it gets a single handlebar set-up. The exhaust itself is similar to the Intruder 155 and gets a one-into-two set-up. Apart from these visual changes, the tyres are likely to become wider in the Intruder 250. Also, it gets disc brakes at the front and rear wheels. The bike gets telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock set-up in the rear.
The engine of the Intruder 250 is expected to remain similar to the Gixxer 250 engine. It will be the same 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 26.5 PS and 22.9 Nm in the Gixxer SF 250. Suzuki may change the gearing ratio of the bike to make it more suitable to ride for the cruiser bike. The bike will also get features like full LCD instrument console too. Also, we may get to see the use of LED lamps in the headlamp and the tail lamp, which will make the bike look very modern.
Suzuki is now working to launch the 2019 version of the Gixxer naked bike. It should be noted that in the future, Suzuki is also expected to launch a naked version of the Gixxer 250 in the Indian market.
