Tata is riding high on the success of the Nexon EV and is planning to take that success to a whole new level by adding more new electric vehicles to its portfolio. One such vehicle which Tata is working on is the bigger version of the Nexon EV – the all-new Tata Nexon EV Coupe.
Tata is working on a range of upcoming electric cars. While some of these new electric vehicles will be based on all-new EV-only platforms, some of them will be based on the existing vehicles from Tata Motors.
As the suffix suggests, the Nexon EV Coupe will be a bigger and coupe-ish version of the existing Nexon EV. This new vehicle is said to be positioned one segment above the Nexon EV and below the speculated Sierra EV. While there are no official details available for the design and specifications of the new Nexon EV Coupe, SRK Designs has come up with a rather nice-looking perspective of what this SUV might look like.
Bigger than the Nexon EV
In a YouTube video, “SRK Designs” has shown how the new Tata Nexon EV might shape up in its production form. The rendering takes many design cues from the existing Nexon EV and the Sierra concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.
The front profile of the Nexon EV Coupe looks sleeker with a body-coloured closed grille flanked with sleek looking daytime running LED strips. The headlamp and fog lamp is nestled in a sleek-looking diamond-shaped housing placed vertically on the side edges of the front bumper. The front bumper also features a heavy body cladding towards the middle.
The rear profile of the Tata Nexon EV Coupe rendered here gets substantial tweaks in the form of revised door panels with flush-type door handles, a curved coupe-like roofline and an extended rear overhang. The flared wheel arches, rearview mirrors, high-raised waistline and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels of the currently available Nexon EV are retained in this rendering. The rendering video, though, doesn’t show what the Nexon EV Coupe might look like from the back.
The Tata Nexon EV Coupe is currently in the works, which is likely to get a more advanced powertrain over the current Nexon EV, with a powerful motor and a bigger battery resulting in a longer range. It will also spin off a new premium compact SUV with ICE engines to take on the likes of SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
