Yesterday, Kia unveiled their new logo that will go on their Sonet and the Seltos. The new logo is modern and looks better on the vehicles. Sonet was the first vehicle to be spotted with the new logo. Now, there is a video of the 2021 Seltos that showcases all changes the Seltos has gone through. The video has been uploaded on YouTube by Tech promises.
The video shows the 2021 Seltos in red colour. It is an HTK+ variant. The new logo of Kia sits on the front bonnet, rear tailgate, steering wheel and alloy wheels. It is one of the variants in which features has been added. The host shows us the features that the SUV now offers. The first that he shows us is the remote start feature through the key fob. The host then shows us how to start the Seltos remotely from the key fob.
This new variant comes with a rear wiper with washer, rear defogger, keyless entry and turn indicators on outside rearview mirrors. It also comes with push button to start/stop, multi-function steering wheel, manual air conditioner with heater, multi-information display, rear AC vents. There are roof rails and a shark fin antenna. This variant does miss out on the electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery and chrome beltline for the windows.
It does not come with an LED headlamp setup. So, it gets regular projector headlamps and projector fog lamps. It also comes with cruise control which comes in very helpful if you are someone who drives a lot on highways. There is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Kia has changed the variant line-up of the Seltos. They have already discontinued HTX Plus AT 1.5 Diesel variant. They have added iMT HTK+ and Turbo GTX (O) MT as new variants. There were rumors of Kia launching the Gravity Edition of the Seltos but that did not happen. Also, people were expecting Kia to add a panoramic sunroof to the Seltos but that too did not happen. However, they do added some new voice commands to open/close sunroof, open/close driver’s power window etc. The voice commands can be triggered by simply saying ‘Hello Kia’.
There are no mechanical changes being made to the engine. However, the manufacturer did add a new transmission option to the Seltos. The mid-size SUV is offered three engine options. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The naturally aspirated engine puts out 115 PS and 144 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speedd manual gearbox or an IVT automatic transmission. Kia has also added a new transmission to this engine named as iMT or intelligent Manual Transmission. It is essentially a clutchless manual gearbox. The driver would need to change the gears himself but the clutch would be operated by a computer connected to various sensors. It would be cheaper option than the IVT variants.
The turbocharged petrol engine puts out 140 PS and 242 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The diesel engine puts out 115 PS and 250 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Kia Seltos starts at Rs. 9.89 lakhs ex-showroom. It goes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Renualt Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
