The Maruti Ciaz has become a popular car in the segment. The sedan has enjoyed the top spot in segment for many months and it also gives a stiff competition to the Honda City. Maruti will soon update the Ciaz soon with a facelift model. Reportedly, the new facelift of Ciaz will be sold through the Nexa dealership network of Maruti.
The premium Nexa dealership of Maruti sells premium models like the Baleno and the S-Cross through their Nexa dealerships, which is much more restricted than the regular Maruti dealership network but offers a much more premium experience to the customer. The regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships have been asked to clear the current stock of the Ciaz before launch of the facelift model of the vehicle.
The Ciaz became first car in the budget segment to receive FAME incentives. The Ciaz diesel SHVS has been a much popular and appreciated model in India. Being a premium car, many customers complain about the car being underpowered. The current engine option of 1.3-litre diesel churns out a maximum of 89 BHP and 200 Nm of torque, while the 1.4-litre petrol engine churns out a maximum of 91 BHP and 130 Nm of maximum torque.
Maruti is also working to put a more powerful diesel engine in the Ciaz. The more powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine powers the S-Cross 320, in which it generates a maximum of 118 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. The engine gets a 6-speed manual transmission. In Ciaz, Maruti will retune the engine to make it more suitable for the Ciaz.
The 1.6-litre engine, however, will only come with the top-end variants of the Ciaz and the lower versions of the vehicle will continue to be powered by the current engine options. The petrol option may also get updated with new 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum of 99 BHP and 133 Nm of maximum torque.
