Hyundai is the second-largest car manufacturer in India, with a variety of models in its lineup. The manufacturer has dominated the compact SUV segment with the Creta for years. Whether it’s the first-generation Creta or the current one, all models are popular among buyers for various reasons. Alongside the Creta, Hyundai has also ventured into the premium SUV segment, offering the Tucson as its flagship model. Over the years, vehicle prices have skyrocketed, forcing many people to consider used cars instead of brand-new ones. As a result, the used car market has flourished in the country.
If you’re in the market to buy a brand new top-end turbo petrol variant of the Hyundai Creta, it would cost you around 22.79 lakh on the road in Karnataka. That’s a substantial amount for a compact SUV. This led us to explore alternatives in the used car market. For the price of a brand new Creta or less, you can either opt for a used Creta or a slightly used older generation Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson, being more premium than the Creta, offers better road appeal.

Pros
One aspect that many people dislike about the current generation Hyundai Creta is its appearance. Despite being in the market since 2020, many still find the exterior design of the current Creta quite odd. By purchasing a previous generation Hyundai Tucson, you’ll get an SUV that looks great in comparison to the Creta. Additionally, the Tucson is larger and equipped with a more powerful engine. The Hyundai Creta comes with 1.4-liter turbo petrol and 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine options in higher variants, while the Hyundai Tucson was offered with 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engine options. Below, we have listed five such Hyundai Tucson models from the previous generation, all available at a price lower than that of a brand new top-end Hyundai Creta.

Cons
While these deals may look tempting to many, we should tell you that there are a few things you should keep in mind while buying a Tucson. Hyundai Tucson is their flagship SUV, and because of the same reason, maintenance of this SUV is going to be a lot more expensive than the Creta. Parts replacement and general servicing will all be slightly on the expensive side.
While the Tucson offers several features, they are all slightly old because the car itself belongs to an older generation. Many of the connected car features that Hyundai offers with their modern cars will not be available with the older SUV. Lastly, fuel economy is another factor to consider. As mentioned earlier, the Tucson has a bigger engine than the Creta and is a lot more powerful. However, this also means that the engine is not as fuel-efficient as the Creta. If you are ready to deal with these factors, then you can go ahead and buy a used Tucson.
