Maruti Suzuki has released the first web-commercial for the all-new 2018 Swift hatchback. The web commercial shows the various design highlights of the car, and also informs the viewer that bookings for the hatchback are now open. Another key detail in the commercial is that the Swift will be sold through Maruti’s Arena dealerships, and not Nexa. Arena refers to regular Maruti dealerships that have now been rebranded and restyled for better sales experience.
The all-new 2018 Swift will be launched at the Auto Expo, which begins from the 7th of February. Maruti’s 2,300 strong Arena dealer network around India have already started accepting bookings for the new car. The booking amount is Rs. 11,000, and is fully refundable in case of cancellation. The new Swift is available in 6 colours. While black has been discontinued, orange is a new colour that the 2018 Swift introduces.
The new Swift features a range of improvements over the older model but is expected to be priced similar to the older model. This will give it a value-for-money appeal among buyers. The car also gets automatic gearboxes on both petrol and diesel engines. 65 % of the bookings for the new car are for the AMT models. Maruti will produce the 2018 Swift from its new Hansalpur factory in Gujarat, alongside the Baleno premium hatchback.
The Swift gets a 20 mm longer wheelbase than the outgoing model and also gets a 20 % larger boot. However, overall length is shorter by 20 mm, and this ensures that the car retains its compact dimensions. It’s based on a light-weight HEARTECT platform, which makes is more than 80 kilograms lighter than the outgoing Swift. Key new features include keyless entry, start-stop button, a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, AMT, twin airbags and ABS as standard safety features, and a restyled dashboard. The car will sit under the Dzire in terms of price and positioning.
