Tata Motors has announced that the Indian brand will showcase various new products at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. Guenter Butschek, Ceo and Managing Director, Tata Motors has revealed that the company will showcase three new products at the event through a video. The Tata stall will comprise of a new SUV codenamed as H5 that will rival the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta in the market and a new premium hatchback codenamed as X451 that will rival the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in the market. Tata will also showcase a new light commercial vehicle at the event.
H5
The H5 SUV is known as Q501 or Q502 to the world. The upcoming SUV has been spied several times while testing on the Indian roads. The new SUV will be positioned between the Nexon and the Hexa in the market and will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. Tata is also expected to launch a long wheelbase version of the SUV. It will have either 5-seat configuration or a 7-seat version.
Tata will power the new SUV with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine sourced from Fiat. It is the same engine also powers the Jeep Compass. The 5-seater version of the car is expected to get around 140 Bhp of maximum power while the long wheelbase 7-seater version of the car is expected to get 170 Bhp of maximum power. The vehicle will be built around Land Lover Discover Sport’s L550 platform. The spy vehicle has been seen in Discovery’s body but the production form of the product will be quite different.
X451

Tata has gained decent numbers in the market through the Tiago and the Nexon. Now the brand will bring a new hatchback to take on the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. The X451 will be the first car to be built on Tata’s new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). The car is expected to get Tata’s latest Impact Design 2.0 design language. The vehicle may be powered by Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine options. The vehicle is expected to be launched in late 2018 or early 2019.
