Fiat has launched the Punto EVO hatchback in India. A facelifted version of the Grande Punto, the new car borrows styling elements from the Avventura. The car also sees a major upgrade in terms of its interiors. Quality levels have been ratcheted up while features have been added. Fiat India has added the proverbial cherry on the cake by pricing the Punto EVO lower than the outgoing car’s variants, in the process delivering great value. Meanwhile, here’s a 90 second video that explains everything that the new Punto EVO has to offer.
The Punto EVO sold in India is available in 7 variants, spread across three engine options. The petrol powered Punto EVO is offered in Active, Dynamic and Emotion trims. The Active and Dynamic variants use a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder FIRE petrol engine that outputs 67 Bhp-96 Nm while the Emotion Petrol variant uses a 1.4 liter-4 cylinder petrol motor that makes 89 Bhp-115 Nm. Both engines get 5 speed manual transmissions that drive the front wheels of the hatchback. While the Dynamic variant adds ABS+EBD, the Emotion variant brings twin airbags to the equation. The Punto EVO gets a dual tone dashboard in all variants except the Sport model.
The diesel variants of the Punto EVO, available in Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport trims, are the ones that will bring in the majority of sales for Fiat India. The Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants of the Punto EVO Diesel use a 1.3 liter-4 cylinder Multijet diesel motor that outputs 76 Bhp-197 Nm. This engine uses a fixed geometry turbocharger and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The Sport variant of the Grande Punto adds 91 Bhp-209 Nm outputs and a variable geometry turbocharger to the 1.3 liter Multijet engine. Another notable inclusion on the top end model is an all-black dashboard, which serves to accentuate the sporty character of the car.
