Volkswagen launches Cross Polo with 1.2 litre petrol engine

Volkswagen India has launched the Cross Polo, with a 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine, priced at Rs. 6.94 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai. The Cross Polo that was launched last year was available exclusively first with a 1.2 litre diesel engine, later upgraded to a 1.5 litre four-cylinder diesel engine, and priced at Rs. 7.75 lakh then.

The new Volkswagen Cross Polo petrol variant with the 1.2 litre MPI engine from the regular Polo petrol puts out 74 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. It’s not really the power plant that makes this car unique, it’s the looks. The Cross Polo comes with butch plastic cladding all around that offers a sort of armour to the skirmishes in the city, and lending itself that outdoorsy look for those who are adventurous at heart. Fuel efficiency is ARAI rated at 16.47 kmpl.

The Cross Polo gets all the goodies from the facelifted Polo as well – such as dual beam headlamps with a smoked finish, 15 inch alloy wheels, silver-painted roof rails and silver accents in the bumper to enhance the style quotient. Inside, it gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel with leather wrap, new steering mounted audio controls, new instrument panel and all-black interiors. Other goodies include a comprehensive infotainment system that has Bluetooth, SD card, Aux, USB and CD source capability, “climatronic” automatic climate control, electric mirrors and remote operated one-touch power windows. All Polos now come with two airbags and the Cross Polo is no different. It also gets ABS as standard.

The Cross Polo is available in three colours – flash red (in picture), deep black and reflex silver.
