Volkswagen Phaeton luxury saloon unveiled at Auto Expo 2010

Volkswagen unveiled its premium luxury class saloon, the Volkswagen Phaeton, at the Auto Expo 2010, on January 7, 2010.

The Volkswagen Phaeton handcrafted luxury car will go on sale in March 2009, at a price of Rs 75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), at Volkswagen showrooms across the country.

The Volkswagen Phaeton is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine  that delivers 280 HP at 6250 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm at 3500 rpm and is mated with a six-speed tiptronic gearbox.

With its focus on luxury and exclusivity, the luxury saloon features 12-way electric seat adjustment, two layer safety glass, climatronic auto air conditioner, cruise control, rear seat entertainment system, front and rear parking distance control, and understated interior styling with leather upholstery and wood trim.
Safety features include eight airbags, ABS, Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) advanced pedestrian system, and anti-theft alarm system.
The Volkswagen Phateon is built at the company’s unique transparent glass factory at Dresden, near Frankfurt, Germany.

Volkwagen has also launched the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Race Polo at the Auto Expo 2110. Customers will be able to choose from three variants of the Volkswagen Polo, the Polo TrendLine, Polo ComfortLine, and Polo HighLine.
The Volkswagen Polo hatchback will be available in petrol and diesel versions. The petrol engine will deliver 75 bhp at 5400 rpm and maximum torque of 110nm at 3750 rpm, while the diesel engine will deliver 75 bhp at 4200 rpm and maximum torque of 180 nm at 2000 rpm.
The hatchback will be available in silver, white, blue and red colors.
The Volkswagen Race Polo is a racing version of the Polo that will be launched later in 2010. The Volkswagen Race Polo is powered by  a 1.6-litre R4 common rail diesel engine that delivers 130 bhp at 4400 rpm and maximum torque of 250 nm at 1500-2500 rpm.
The company has not revealed any information about the price of the Volkswagen Polo and the Volkswagen Race Polo, though there is speculation that the Volkswagen Polo will be priced around Rs 4.75 lakhs.
