To bid goodbye to Polo, Volkswagen decided to launch a limited edition of the hatchback, which was called Polo Legend Edition. Volkswagen will only make 700 units of the Legend Edition. Now, the manufacturer has started deliveries of the limited edition hatchback.
The video is uploaded on YouTube by TeamAutoTrend Channel. The video is shot at Volkswagen Coimbatore. They delivered the last eight Polos of the city. All eight Polos were the Legend Edition. In the video, we can see new owners cutting a cake and taking delivery of their new Polos.
The Legend Edition comes with some changes when compared to the regular Polo. All of them are cosmetic changes. It was priced at Rs. 10.25 lakhs ex-showroom and is based on the top-spec GT TSI variant.

There are no mechanical changes to the Polo Legend Edition. So, it comes with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI petrol engine that has been turbocharged. It produces a max power output of 110 PS and a peak torque output of 175 Nm. The only gearbox option for the Polo Legend Edition is a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Although, there is also a 6-speed manual gearbox on offer that is offered on the regular variant. Volkswagen also used to sell a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with the lower variants. It used to produce 75 PS of max power and 95 Nm of peak torque. It was offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Volkswagen focuses on SUVW and sedan
Volkswagen released a letter on behalf of Polo when they announced they will be discontinuing the Polo. The letter said “as I (Polo) move on, I pass my legacy to SUVW and sedan siblings. And I am sure they will take it forward.” The letter here refers to the Taigun mid-size SUV and the upcoming Virtus.
Volkswagen Virtus
The Virtus is the replacement for the Rapid. It is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform which is also being used for the Taigun, Skoda Slavia and Kushaq. The Virtus will launch in June and will be sold in two trims. There will be a Dynamic Line and Performance Line.
Volkswagen will offer two petrol engines with the Virtus. Both of them will be turbocharged and there will be no diesel engine on offer. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine produces 110 PS of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This engine will be offered only on the Dynamic Line.
