Volkswagen starts deliveries of Tiguan SUV

Volkswagen India has started deliveries of its flagship SUV, Tiguan. The manufacturer also revealed that the Tiguan is now sold out for Q1, 2022. The SUV is being assembled at Volkswagen’s Aurangabad facility. The manufacturer is offering the Tiguan only in a single variant known as Elegance. It is priced at Rs. 31.99 lakhs ex-showroom.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “Within a month from its launch, the new Tiguan has garnered significant attention from customers, wherein the SUVW is sold-out for Q1, 2022. It is a testament to the customer appeal and appreciation of this global SUVW. With the commencement of deliveries, we are eager to see our customers drive this true stunner.”

Tiguan currently competes against Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. It is important to note that the Tiguan is a 5-seater SUV and not a 7-seater SUV.

The SUV is being offered in 7 colours. There is Nightshade Blue, Kings Red, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, Dolphin Gray, Oryx White and Pure White. Tiguan measures 4,509 mm in length, it has a width of 1,839 mm and a height of 1,665 mm. The wheelbase measures 2,679 mm. The boot space of the Tiguan is pretty generous. It measures 615 litres. Moreover, it gets hands-free operation for the tailgate. So, if you have the key fob in your pocket and you wave your foot below the rear bumper then the trunk would open itself.

Volkswagen updated the design and the engine of the Tiguan to launch it in India. It now comes only with a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine. The engine produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters that are mounted behind the steering wheel. So, you can take manual control of the gears anytime you want. There are four driving modes on offer. There is Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual. Moreover, there is also Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive on offer which can help you in slippy conditions. There is also a drive mode selector. There is On-road, Off-road, Off-road Individual and Snow.

For safety, there are 6 airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, driver fatigue detection, Tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera with dynamic guidelines and four different views, Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Anti-Slip Regulation, – Electronic differential lock system and Engine Drag Torque Control. Moreover, you also get front and rear disc brakes.

Volkswagen is offering a decent feature list with the Tiguan. It comes with tri-zone climate control, matrix LED headlamps, poor weather lights, ambient lighting, dynamic cornienrg lights, panoramic sunroof, rear ac vents, heated front seats, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and much more. There is also a digital instrument cluster and a new touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
