Volkswagen Taigun interior revealed through a digital render

Volkswagen had showcased the concept of their upcoming SUV Taigun to public at the Auto Expo last year. The production version of Taigun was revealed to on March 31st 2021. Volkswagen Taigun is a mid-size SUV that will compete with the cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier in the segment. Earlier, the images of the production version of Taigun had surfaced online before official reveal and now a rendered image showing how the cabin of the upcoming SUV has also surfaced.

The render image shows how the cabin of the production version of Taigun would look like. Frankly, the cabin resembles a lot with the concept that they had showcased earlier. The overall look of the cabin is similar to some of the other cars in the Volkswagen family. It gets a dual tone interior that look simple and elegant. The image shows a flat bottom steering with steering mounted controls, fully digital instrument cluster, 10 inch touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control,  wireless charging and so on.

Coming to the exterior design of the Taigun, it gets a front grille with horizontal slats on it, The Volkswagen logo is at the center of the grille. The sleek headlamps are actually designed in a way that it looks like an extension of the front grille, Inside the headlamps, there are two projector lights. LED DRLs and turn indicators are also integrated in it. Coming down, the Taigun gets an aggressive looking bumper. There is a thick chrome strip that is running across the bumper and the fog lamps are wrapped around it as well. Other than this chrome strip, the lower part of the bumper gets a black finish with a faux skid plate at the bottom.

Moving to the side profile, there are sharp body lines and thick black cladding can be seen on the wheel arches and around the vehicle. It has a proper SUV like design and shape from the side profile. The SUV also gets blacked out roof, silver coloured roof rails and a good looking dual tone machine cut alloy wheels. Moving to the rear section of the car, there shoulder line that had started from the front has come all the way to the rear and joins the tail lamp.

The tail lamp on the upcoming Taigun is actually an LED unit that looks elegant. There is an LED strip running between the tail lights and a set of reflectors are also integrated in it. The Volkswagen logo is placed in the center and Taigun branding is seen below the registration plate area. Volkswagen is expected to bring a GT version of Taigun in the country. The same has been spotted testing on our roads as well.

It will be available with a petrol engine only. Taigun is Volkswagen’s first vehicle under India strategy 2.0. It will be available with a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine that generates 114 bhp and 175 Nm of torque. This will be available with manual and automatic transmission options. There will be a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine that will generate 150 Ps and 250 Nm of torque. This engine will come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox option. Volkswagen is expected to launch Taigun in the market later this year.
