Volkswagen Taigun was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and the production version of the SUV that we drove recently was not much different. In terms of design, Taigun gets Volkswagen’s signature grille at the front with chrome inserts. The headlamps look sleek and act as an extended part of the front grille itself.
There are LED fog lamps and there is a chrome strips on the bumper which runs from one end to the other. On the side profile, Taigun gets dual tone machine cut alloy wheels for the top-end variant. At the rear, the LED tail lamps with infinity LED bar connecting both the tail lamps are the attraction. In terms of features, Volkswagen offers electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel and so on.
It is based on MQB AO-IN platform and is the same platform that is also used in the Skoda Kushaq. Volkswagen Taigun is available in two engine options. Like many other manufacturers, Volkswagen group has also given away with diesel engines and are concentrating on petrol engines. It is powered by two turbocharged petrol engines. There is a 1.0 litre TSI engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with manual and automatic transmission options. Next is the 1.5 litre TSI petrol engine which generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox option.
