Volkswagen India launched their compact SUV Taigun in the market last year. It is the first product to be launched under Volkswagen’s India 2.0 Strategy. Deliveries for the Volkswagen Taigun has already started and the car has been spotted on road several times. Volkswagen Taigun competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq in the segment. Prices for Volkswagen Taigun start from Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Volkswagen has now released a new TVC for the compact SUV.
The video has been shared by Volkswagen India on their YouTube channel. The new TVC features Ali Fazal who became popular among viewers for his roles in various movies and web Series. Volkswagen had showcased the almost production ready model of Taigun to public in 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV is based on the same platform as Kushaq, Slavia and the upcoming Virtus. The MQB A0-IN platform as we know has been modified for Indian conditions.

Volkswagen Taigun has a design that is similar to other cars in the family. Lot of straight lines that gives it a boxy design and premium look. The car gets signature Volkswagen grille at the front that extend to meet the headlamp that act as a part f the front grille. There are LED headlamps available in the top-end version. Decent amount of chrome can be seen on the grille and on the bumper. The Volkswagen Taigun comes with a muscular yet premium looking bumper with integrated fog lamps in it.
Coming to the side profile, the Taigun gets dual tone alloy wheels and a thick black cladding is seen all around the car’s lower portion. The highlight of Taigun’s design however is the rear. It gets a very distinct looking rear design. It is muscular and looks futuristic. There are split LED tail lamps. Connecting these LED tail lamps is a reflector LED bar that runs across the tail gate. There is Taigun branding on the tail gate and Volkswagen logo is also seen here. A chrome garnish can be seen on the rear bumper as well.
Moving in, Volkswagen is offering decent number of features. The top-end variant of Taigun comes with features like fully digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless. Automatic climate control, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, ventilated seats and many more features are offered with Taigun.
Volkswagen Taigun is offered with petrol engine options only. There are two engines available with the SUV. First one is the 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The next engine option is the 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG transmission. The 1.0 litre engine are offered in Comfortline, Highline and Topline trims under the Dynamic variants. The 1.5 litre engine versions come under the Performance Line and differentiated with a GT badge on the grille.
