Volkswagen has announced that they will be launching the facelifted Tiguan on December 7th. It will be the 5-seater version of the SUV, not the 7-seater version which is called Tiguan AllSpace. The new Tiguan will be competing against the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 AirCross, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq.

The Tiguan will now get a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine which is already doing duty on the Skoda Octavia. The same engine will also be used on the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq. The engine produces 187 bhp of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel. So, you can control manual control over the gearbox any time you want. The facelifted Tiguan will also get a 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

The new engine replaces the old 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. This engine produced 141 bhp of max power and 340 Nm of peak torque. It was also offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. The 2.0 TSI is more powerful when compared to the 2.0 TDI.
Design
The design of the Tiguan has been modernized and it looks sharper and sleeker than the previous generation. There are new LED headlamps that now support Matrix technology, which means that there are individual LEDs and they can black out the parts where the oncoming traffic is. Because of this, the oncoming driver will not be dazzled. The new grille also neatly integrates with the headlamp cluster. There are also different types of light modes, namely Country light, Dynamic bending lights and Poor-weather lights
There are also new LED Daytime Running Lamps and it also gets new LED tail lamps. Moreover, you also get weather lights and dynamic cornering lights. Both bumpers have also been redesigned. The front bumper is now more aggressive and gets piano black touches with a silver faux skid plate. The alloy wheels measure 18-inches in size. The rear bumper now gets faux exhaust tips and a chrome strip. Tiguan is spelt out on the tailgate which looks premium.
Features
Volkswagen has updated the infotainment system. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The three-zone automatic climate control is now controlled via touch and slide. There is also connected car technology through My Volkswagen Connect. The driver also gets Digital Cockpit which is essentially a digital instrument cluster. The driver side seat gets electric adjustment and has three memory settings.
There are some premium touches to the cabin such as Premium Vienna leather seats, illuminated scuff plates, illuminated gear knob, panoramic sunroof, chrome elements and ambient lighting. There is also a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, leather-wrapped sliding armrest and the rear bench can also slide.
Safety features include a driver alert system, up to 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill assist, hill hold control, traction control, stability control and much more.
