Volkswagen India has added a Preferred Edition Variant to its Vento line up, which is a heavily embellished Comfortline variant, to push the car faster out of its showrooms. The Vento is the German brand’s best-selling sedan in India. It clocked an average of about 1,270 cars per month in the past three months, with last month’s sales climbing to 1,346 units.
Here’s what you get with the Preferred Edition.
The Volkswagen Vento Preferred Edition gets a slew of additional accessories such as Side Door Protectors, Sun Visors, Alloy Wheels, Chrome Bars, Bootlid Spoiler, Reverse Camera with Navigation System and Doorstep Garnish. The accessories are said to be worth 51,000 rupees. These are available to the buyer at no additional cost.
Volkswagen is also offering an exchange benefit of up to 30,000 rupees against the purchase of a new Vento. The 2014 edition of the Vento with the Preferred accessory pack comes with one year free insurance and a 4-year free roadside assistance package. The Comfortline variant of the Vento is pegged at 8 lakh rupees for the petrol engined model and 9.17 lakh rupees for the diesel engined model ex-showroom, Delhi.

The Vento is sold with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The petrol engines include the 1.6 litre naturally aspirated MPI (103 Bhp-153 Nm) and the 1.2 litre TSI turbo petrol (103 Bhp-175 Nm) motors while the turbo diesel engine is the 1.6 liter TDI (103 Bhp-250 Nm) motor.
The MPI petrol and TDI turbo diesel engines get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard . The 1.2 litre TSI petrol motor gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) gearbox as standard. In the next few months, the Vento Diesel will get a 6 speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox.
