Volkswagen Virtus crashes into road ditch: Passengers seen laughing after the crash [Video]

Build quality of a vehicle is something that many car buyers are now considering before finalising a car. Indian brands like Tata and Mahindra have been offering sturdy vehicles to its customers. Other manufacturers are also on the same route. German car brand like Volkswagen is also known for its build quality. Even their entry level hatchback Polo which is not available in the market anymore had performed pretty well in the crash tests. There are many accident videos where Volkswagen cars have proven their build quality. Here we have one such video where a Volkswagen Virtus driver lost control and crashed into a ditch. The passengers inside the car were unhurt and were seen laughing after the crash.

The video has been uploaded by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The video and images of the accident were shared by the owner of the car who happens to follow Prateek’s channel. The accident happened in Maharashtra on January 8 this year. There were two people in the Volkswagen Virtus sedan. They were travelling from Ajanta to Buldana city. They were travelling at night and there was not much light on the road. When they were 22 km away from Buldana city, there was a turn. The driver could not see the road properly as it was dark and he lost control over the vehicle at the turn.

It is not clear whether the car was being driven rashly or not. The car slipped away from the road and the driver applied the brakes. However, it was too late and the car rolled over couple of times, before coming to a complete stop inside a ditch. Car was damaged from all the sides. The front bumper, grille and fender were all damaged. The bonnet also has damages and the wheel have also been damaged. the windshield, quarter glass also has some damage.

From the pictures, it is clear that the airbags in the car had deployed at the time of accident and that was one of the reason why the occupants did not face any injuries. In fact, the driver and the passenger inside the car can be seen laughing outside the car after the accident. It looks like the driver was very happy with the build quality of the sedan and was surprised to see himself walk out of the accident without any major injuries. As mentioned above, the speed of the car is not clear in this incident however, when you are driving through ghat sections at night, it is always recommended to drive slow.  Many of these roads don’t have proper street lights which would guide you at night. The driver will have to be careful and maintain a safe speed in order to avoid such accidents.  Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq scored 5 star ratings at Global NCAP crash test.
