India’s most powerful Volkwagen Taigun 1.0 TSI with a Stage 2 tune makes 155 Bhp [Video]

The Volkswagen Taigun SUV has been on the market for over a year. Unlike many other Volkswagen cars, we have yet to see a Taigun with performance modifications. Although there are several videos related to modifications available online, you would rarely find one about the Taigun, until today. Code6, which is a popular modification garage in India, has now developed a tune that is suitable for the Taigun. Here, we have a video that shows the entire modification process, including the dyno test. The Taigun 1.0 TSI SUV is stage 2 tuned and now generates 155 Bhp, making it one of the most powerful Taigun SUVs in the country.

The videos have been uploaded by The Drivers Hub on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks about all the changes or modifications that were done to the SUV to prepare it for the stage 2 tune. The Air intake on the Volkswagen Taigun is placed behind the front grille. This was customised. Minor modifications were made to the air intake to make it more efficient. The next modification was the inlet pipe. The stock inlet pipe on this Taigun was replaced with a custom-made unit. This would ensure a free flow of air into the engine making it more responsive.

The wheels on this Taigun along with the calipers were removed to be painted in black and red respectively. This was done in order to achieve a sporty look to the SUV. The next step into this project was to remove the stock downpipe with a custom made performance unit. The performance downpipe installed on the Taigun was developed by Code6 and is still in the prototype stage, This is a two-piece set up instead of one single unit. In order to remove the stock unit, the workshop had to remove the front sub-frame of the SUV. Once the down pipe was installed, all the elements were put back together and they opened the bonnet.

Taigun 1.0 TSI at dyno test

Normally we have seen people connect OBD inside the cabin and flash the ECU with variables to get the maps and tune the engine. In this case, the ECU was physically removed from the car and was bench tuned. After all the work was done, the SUV was ready for the dyno tune. The car was tested thoroughly and finally at the dyno test, it revealed that the 1.0 litre TSI petrol engine on this Taigun was generating 155 Bhp and 258 Nm of peak torque. This is much more than the stock version. In fact, it is now more powerful than the 1.5 litre turbocharged version of Taigun.

The vlogger mentions in the video that Code6 has gone for an aggressive map in this case and it won’t be the same for everyone. This aggressive map would affect the life of the engine. A more reliable tune is also available with Code6 which will be offered to the customers. The second tune generates around 145 Bhp. Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 litre TSI generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. The SUV seen here in the manual version. The same engine is also offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. This is probably the most powerful Taigun 1.0 TSI currently in the country.
