Volvo will be launching the crossover-sedan version of the S60, called the S60 Cross Country, in India on March 11. The car is based on the S60 but has more ground clearance, looks rugged, and is likely to appeal more to the crossover-obsessed market of ours.
The final specs will be made official soon/closer to the launch, but since it will be imported through the CBU route, expect minimal changes. Engine options are likely to include two diesels (both D4 units but one’s a 2-liter version while the other is a 2.4-liter unit), but it remains to be seen if AWD is offered in India – it’s standard on one of the engines. Both 18- and 19-inch wheels with high-profile tyres will be available.
The car has its ride height increased by 65 mm (in comparison to the S60), while a more rugged, crossover-like styling approach helps accentuate the car’s crossover sedan stance. Prices aren’t announced yet, but keep in mind that it is expected to be more expensive than the S60 sedan that retails at Rs 34.4 lakhs onwards.
