Volvo is all set to launch another vehicle to add to their existing portfolio. This one, the V90 Cross Country will sit in between the gap that is present between the S90 and the XC90. The company will be launching the all-new V90 Cross Country tomorrow and here are the details on the vehicle.
Details:
The V90 is the estate version of the S90, which makes it more practical. Adding the Cross Country badge gives it higher ground clearance, plastic cladding all around and an AWD system (Borg Warner unit). The V90 Cross Country will be powered by the 2.0 liter diesel engine which is on offer in the XC90, in the D5 guise unlike the D4 guise which is offered on the S90. The D5 means that it will produce 225 Bhp and 470 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The additional ground clearance is 65 mm, which is enough for it to take on most of the roads that India has to offer. The V90 will be the first estate on sale in this segment. Yes, Audi has the RS6 Avant on offer, however it is much costlier, being the performance version. While in India, people don’t really buy estates, they are very popular abroad, where people travel a lot of long distances and want fast yet practical vehicles.
The vehicle looks a lot like the S90 up front, save for the plastic cladding and the scuff plate. On the inside too, the interiors are similar to that on the S90 and the XC90, which means that the car features a massive touch screen system to control all the functions of the vehicle.
While pricing for the vehicle will only be known tomorrow, we expect it to be priced between the Rs 60 – Rs 65 lakh range, given that it will be positioned between the S90 and the XC90.
