Volvo XC60 Luxury SUV launched in India

Swedish automaker Volvo has just launched the XC60 luxury SUV in India, at a price of Rs. 55.9 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The SUV has been launched in a single, top-of-the-line Inscription variant. Bookings are now open, and deliveries will start from early 2018.

The XC60 is based on Volvo’s Scalable Platform (SPA) Architecture, and is assembled from completely knocked down (CKD) kits at Volvo’s Bangalore factory, where trucks and buses are also built. The XC60 is five seater and it competes with SUVs such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The SUV is powered by a 2 liter, turbocharged diesel engine with 232 Bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 480 Nm of peak torque between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm. An 8 speed automatic transmission and an all wheel drive layout are standard features on this vehicle.

Volvo has announced that it will introduce the T6 turbocharged petrol variant of the XC60 next year, and also the T8 petrol hybrid option. The vehicle gets five drive modes- eco, Comfort, off-road, dynamic and individual. These modes will modulate throttle response and the all wheel drive system’s grip levels accordingly.

The XC60 is a Volvo. So, it is a given that it will be loaded to the gills with safety features. The SUV does not disappoint. You get a host of active and passive safety features such as six airbags, ABS, EBD, Emergency brake assist, Hill start assist, Heads up display and Pilot assist and other radar-based safety kit such as parking assist at the front and the rear.

Other prominent features on this SUV includes seats done up in Nappa leather, a 360 degrees parking camera, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and a touchscreen infotainment console with navigation and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The XC60 also gets a panoramic sun roof, a feature that many luxury car buyers simply love.
