Volkswagen has been regularly launching facelfits of their models on sale in the country. Every 6 months there seems to be an update with new features coming. This has been keeping the model line up fresh. To cash in on the festive season buzz, they plan to launch a new variant of the Polo, called the Polo ALLSTAR. This variant on show at the recently conceded Vento Cup at BIC.
The vehicle has not been launched officially but the details have been put up on the site already. Visual changes include an all new blue shade (like the Ameo launch colour), new 15″ alloys that are multi-spoke and look fabulous. There is also ALLSTAR badging on the B-pillar which tells this variant apart.
On the inside there are a few interesting additions. The first thing being the armrest which has been added along with rear AC vents. This been a major missing feature in the Polo hatchback and it is good to finally see them add in this feature. In addition to this, they have also added aluminium pedals and scuff plates.
Currently the Polo comes with 4 engine options, however this ALLSTAR variant is expected on the normal petrol and diesel variants, not the GT range. The petrol one is powered by a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder MPi engine making 74 Bhp and 110 Nm. The diesel engine is the 1.5 liter one which makes 88 Bhp and 230 Nm. This is the same engine on the GT TDi, however it has been de-tuned to make less power.
This new variant is expected to be launched soon. Currently, Volkswagen in celebrating the Volksfest offer which will continue for the whole of October. A lot of discounts are on offer for this period. The company also introduced the Ameo diesel compact sedan last week. Unlike the global market that will see an all new Polo based on the MQB platform coming soon, India will continue to get updated versions on the existing platform.
