Mercedes brought 50 units of Maybach GLS600 to India earlier this year. The German manufacturer has already sold all the units that were allotted to India. The luxury SUV has a starting price of Rs. 2.4 Crores ex-showroom before any customization options. Here, is a video in which we can see sports cars drifting around the Maybach GLS600.
The video is uploaded on YouTube by Horsepower Cartel. In the video, we can see the Mercedes Maybach GLS600 bouncing while high-performance cars like Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and BMW M3 drift around the luxury SUV. In the video, there are also other expensive cars like BMW M4, Mercedes-Benz E63S, Skoda Octavia RS, Toyota Fortuner etc. All the vehicles meet at an abandoned airstrip which is damped using water from a water tanker. This is done so that the tyres can easily lose traction and the drift can be initiated much easily. After a while, it also starts raining which also aids in drifting.

Stunting is illegal on public roads
It is important to note that drifting comes under stunting and stunting is illegal on public roads. This is because the stunts can get out of hand quite easily and they are very dangerous. On public roads, there are other vehicles and pedestrians too. So, there is a very high chance that in case something goes wrong, the pedestrians can get hurt. Also, the vehicle and the occupants and inside can also get injured. This is the reason that the video is shot on an abandoned airstrip. This reduces the chances of hurting someone in a serious accident.
The GLS600 is a very popular SUV in the Indian market. Many famous celebrities have decided to buy the new luxury SUV. Actors like Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, Ram Charan and Ranveer Singh are the new owners of GLS600. This is because the GLS600 offers immense luxury with a high seating position and the practicality of a SUV.
The GLS600 gets some Maybach specific upgrades over the standard GLS. For instance, it gets a unique dual-tone paint scheme, Maybach specific grille and alloy wheels and badging. The GLS600 also gets an AMG derived 4.0-litre Bi-turbo V8 petrol engine. It puts out 557 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 730 Nm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.
The engine and gearbox have been specifically tweaked to Maybach standards. So, the engine delivers power in a linear fashion and the gearbox also shifts smoothly to provide the best experience to the occupants. There is also a 48V mild-hybrid technology that provides an additional 22 PS and 250 Nm.
Maybach has equipped the GLS600 with rear seats that can recline and have a massaging function. There is five-zone climate control, Burmester sound system, wireless charging, sunshades, 360-degree parking camera, electrical adjustment for all the seats, 64 colours ambient lighting, dual 12.3-inch screens, refrigerator, panoramic sunroof and much more.
